I’ve learned that there’s so much truth to the simple saying, “it takes a village to raise a child.”
When you’re physically giving birth, it takes a team of nurses, a doctor, and loved ones to help you. Your designated team of medical professionals instruct you on how to breathe, and they also let you know you’re doing just fine. Additionally, your loved ones hold your hand and watch you go through the procedure of giving natural birth. They will likely speak positively over you, sharing how proud they are of you and letting you know that they are right there with you.
As beautiful as it sounds, in that very moment, you feel as if you’re ready for it to be over! The contractions are becoming increasingly more painful. It’s overwhelming, you’re tired and you’re thirsty. You may even say to yourself that you won’t ever do this again.
Then, the doctor steps in to give instruction and will ultimately deliver your child. When you see what you’ve birthed, it makes going through that pain and trauma all worth it.
Now that we’ve dissected the natural side of it, let’s look at it through a spiritual lens.
When God has chosen you to birth something in the spiritual realm, the same pain that you experience in the natural world will be translated spiritually. The pain may contort you to the point where you’ll want to throw in the towel. People close to you might start to phase out, things at your job could start going awry, and your finances may be tampered with – simply put, things around you will appear to completely out of control.
Ephesians 6:12-13 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Be comforted by the fact that the same team of nurses that you have naturally, will conceptually be present during this time of spiritual birthing. God will send a team of spiritual warriors to speak life into you and help you to hold on. A member of the clergy will step into the role of the doctor and they will prophetically instruct you on how to navigate through the process. So when it’s time to push, you will be ready. And, when you see the real blessing of what you’ve birthed spiritually, you will again know that the pain was not in vain.
In closing, be encouraged. Whatever it is that you’re facing, know that you are not alone in this. God is instructing a team of warriors and a spiritual doctor to come and help nurture you, so you’ll know when it’s time to push.
Go ahead, I dare you to push this one on out!
